Default Rear Speaker Upgrade

Last year I upgraded the radio in my C5 coupe to a Clarion NX500 double din unit and added a 12" sub-woofer with amp at that time. This improved the sound tremendously. The car has great base and very good highs, but the mid range seems to be lacking a bit. My thought would be to change out the rear 6.5" speakers for something that would have better mid range performance, since these are the easiest speakers to access. Looking on the web at 6.5" speakers, they all talk about base and highs but don't mention mid range performance. Any recommendations for a 6.5" speaker with good mid range?

Phil

The prevailing opinion here is that the best (non-sub) speaker upgrade is a set of components in the doors. A decent set of components with a properly set high-pass crossover (and adequate amplification) will greatly improve both treble and midrange sound quality. I think a few of our forum vendors sell adapter plates to put components in the doors of the C5.

forget the rear speakers - you don't really need them anyway. You would be MUCH, MUCH better off upgrading the front speakers with a 5.25" or 6.5" high quality componet set running off a good amp.
The front componet speakers with the 12" sub you already have and the system should rock very nicely!
