Seriously busted speakers
I have some seriously busted speakers. Not sure why it revealed itself when I tuned to FM, but there is some serious distortion and crackling in the door speakers. Pretty certain it's the bass, but not exactly sure.
I need to get back up in running. What exactly is in the doors? I've researched the C6 audio FAQ, but not sure of the layout of what exactly is in there.
I guess I would like to do an amp and a setup in the doors. I would like to avoid going the sub route. It's a convertible, plus I don't have a lot of bucks. Maybe a second amp and a sub later.
I would just like clear sounds with a speaker set up that will give me clarity with somewhat decent lows, mids and highs. I would like to be able to put a little volume on it when I'm cruising as well.
Also, where do you suggest putting the amp? Is there a way to wedge it in one of the rear cubbies? I just don't trust an installer to mount something back there, especially if they are not used to working on Vettes. Or is the safest method to glue some plywood and then mount the amp on the plywood?
I would rather not put the amp behind the seat or in the footwell. I would like for it to be stealth as much as possible.
I upgraded the rear speakers awhile back with that speaker special Dennis was running and had them installed at a Corvette show in Orlando from the guys from Tenn.
Any help is appreciated with setup, brands, locations, etc.
Thanks.
