Default Mounting depth?

I am about to embark on a high end install in my C6. I have not yet taken the car apart for measurements. Wonder if anyone knows how deep of a mid bass driver I can mount in the door so I can start gather product. Thanks.

Thanks for the info. I just wish I could get some more depth out of the door for a larger driver but I guess I will have to settle for a 6.5" driver with a tweeter in the A pillar. I'm guessing kicks are not going to work too well with the high center tunnel and deep dash.

It looks like I will go with Focal Utopia Be separates and a JL 13w7 sub. I am definitely using Zapco amplification: Zapco 4.0 bridged to the tweets, Zapco 4.0 bridged to the mids, Zapco 9.0 to the sub. (I've had this amplifiers for years as they were in my last install which placed 3rd at the IASCA world finals). I am thinking about an Alpine head with their time delay/DEQ piece (I forget the model #). I am presently using a JBL MS8 in my daily driver and I am not totally in love with it. This will be a pure SQ system with a fairly low key, low visibility install.

Don't forget that you have some space in front of the door skin too. I have a 1/2" spacer on my doors. I put in 8" MB Quart mid-woofers, and they fit without much issue.

I am aware of that. Maybe I could use the Utopia 3 way but I then have to find a way to mount the mid range in an "enclosure" different from the mid bass. Or, I could go with a shallow sub in the door, a sealed back dome mid up hi in the door and tweets in the pillars and time align it all. In the end, I think simpler will be better. I really wish I knew nothing about audiophile sound in a car. I'd be happier because ignorance is bliss.

After some investigation, Focal Utopia Be 2 way (6 3/4 woofer, berilium tweeter) will be installed in the door/pillar. JL Audio 13 TS 5 sub in hatch. Stealth install. Let the mock up begin......
