I have about 2K to spend plus installation. I am looking for a nice sound system. Any recommendations? I listen to all kinds of music and I typically like to listen to it clear and loud. I like bass but do not need a thundering subwoofer...I am in Albany NY if that helps!
Thanks Steve

Might get more precise recommendation in stereo section of this site.
FWIW - Keep headunit, disconnect center dash speaker, upgrade all six speakers (which could (could) cost near the entire $2K) and add a nice JL Audio subwoofer box amp & speaker in the trunk.
Don't forget to rattle proof your doors during this upgrade.
Bdgetwise...You could also do this in steps, starting with rear speaker replacement, then front and last doors to see if those improvements work for you. You have a type of description on the sound you are looking for in your post.
1. New head unit with NAV and iPod and Bluetooth functionality.
2. Nice 6.5 component speakers (each door will have a mid-bass and a tweeter)
3. 8" subwoofer with box in the rear.
4. 4-Channel amp.
5. Sound-deadening in doors.
I'm doing the same thing, sorta. Except I'm doing it in stages 'cause my budget is a little less.
Some guys on here who sell equipment will eventually see your post and quote you a system for all of the above in your price range.
Similar to Tampa, but I'd say a sub is mandatory for quality sound at higher volumes like you're wanting (not thundering, just warm, rich and full).
Are you more after sound quality than a navigation deck?
If sound quality and Ipod functionality but no nav go with the Pioneer DEX-P99RS, if nav go with any of the Alpine units from the last 3 years that you like the look of and have the functionality you want.
Alpine SPR-17S 6.5" in the front doors (they sound great, are slim enough to fit and can go loud).
Arc Audio Mini KS125.4 amplifier - small, have a built in fan, and can fit almost anywhere you need. A forum vendor here sells them....
Phoenix Gold Bass Cube - trust me on this one for rich bass that makes your high and low frequencies sound "sweet" to the ear.
SWR-T10 or better yet SWR-T12 subwoofer - slim design and should sound great at high or low volumes.
The subwoofer box and wiring will put you a little over $2000 but these quality pieces will sound great and should last a long time.

On a budget - keep head unit, add JBL MS8, buy nice front separates (I like Focals) (6 1/2 in door, tweet in pillar). Ditch center channel. Keep factory rear speakers (they will not be playing loud anyway), add JL stealth box and JL 5 channel amp. Use MS 8 internal amp for factory rear speakers. Buy Dynamat, apply liberally. If you shop around, you'll be a little over budget but you will have great equipment.
