Some thoughts.

Since I bought it, I've wanted to put in a new stereo and stick with the Bose speakers. The point is to be able to plug in my iPod at will.
Before I left on my recent trip, I got out my iPod and the buttons on it are deader'n a doornail and it simply isn't functional. It made me realize just how little I use it and THAT got me to thinking about what I really do use.
I have CD's in the car and it's not really a pain to use them but I have a coupe thousand songs on my phone, of all things and THAT got me to thinking. . .
. . .what do I really want?
Basically, I only want/need something that will let me connect with Bluetooth and play the music on my phone. And my wife's phone. No CD needed. No auxiliary ports. No changer, no iPod connection no GPS, no DVD player. Just a bluetooth receiver/stereo. Simplicity in the extreme.
I have found a couple out there. The local Audio store has one that would work but they want $500 for it and they talk of cutting out the OEM stuff under the dash. I backed away slowly.
On line, some decent stuff. Double D has at least one or two that will do what I want.
As an aside, many of them will put your phone calls through the sound system on the car and I like that idea as well but to me, that's incidental and not especially required.
What do you all prefer?
