Damaged
When I opened the box and pulled the enclosure and speaker out, part of the grill was also caved in.
My question is should I just pop the grill and see if anything else is damaged? I guess I am looking for damage to the cone. Anything else I should check for?
I attached pix. Not sure how well they came out. Person and company who I ordered from seems to be good people and I sent them an email with pix as well. I haven't heard back from them, but it's after 5 and it's Friday. I only sent the email a few minutes ago.
What's my next step? Was gonna have an installer install it tomorrow. It's custom for a C6 Vert.
I would definitely take the grill off and give the sub a good visual inspection. Maybe even carefully push straight down on the center of the cone and make sure the coil doesn't rub.
If you want to get the install done, the grill can be changed out later with just a screwdriver.
You can replace the screws without the grill if you don't like the way it looks, or put them both back.
Be careful not to overtorque the screws when you replace them. It's hard to do, but possible to strip out the fiberglass.

However, it was packaged really poorly. Just some bubble wrap and old UPS envelopes wadded up. It was in a huge box (way too big) with a big gap between the box and rest of the package. Nothing to protect the speaker at all really.
I mean, given the way UPS stacks things, you would think you would take precautions. At least some styrofoam or something.
When the speaker goes back into the enclosure, do I have to line up the holes perfectly? I mean I'm dealing with carpet here and it's almost impossible to tell where the screws originally went.
Needless to say, I'm bummed. Been waitin' a couple of weeks for the sub and box.
You know what I should have done? I should have bought everything, cruised up to Augusta, and had you put it in Mark.
I would try to find the holes by running your fingers around the inside of the box, they need to be lined up where they were.
Even with the box being loose and bouncing around, subs take a beating just doing what they do. Unless there's obvious physical damage to the cone or surround it should be fine.
Put it all back together with a couple of slight impressions in the grill. Pushed out the major dings.
Will fire it up tomorrow and see what happens.

The bass was so strong I had to retune the amp somewhat. It's a monster.
Very, very pleased.
BTW, new grill on the way from vendor.
