I have a thought that the wires for the cd changer were ran through the car regardless of whether the option was ticked or not. If so, then I should still be able to use it as an AUX input.
Can anyone confirm/deny? Where is the stock location of the CD changer?
If it doesn't have a changer in the trunk (passenger cubby), then cable wasn't ran to rear of car from footwell. MOST C5 have it to footwell, IIRC 2004 doesn't.
You can prob find something that will work for you HERE
If there are cables in the footwell they'd be very well hidden, usually taped to an existing wire run under the trim or in the upper left corner.
This is right. Mine were behind the fuse panel cover in the footwell and the carpet just at the back end of the removable panel. I did this mod (adding changer) on my 02 coupe. Here is a link from the ancient past with more info.
Not sure about this but if you are looking to keep the HU and want Ipod connections the PXDP with the PXHGM4 cable is the set up that you need for your car without the changer in the back. I ordered my parts and took apart my dash this morning. It was very simple. I was actually surprised at the ease in which it came apart.
I'll have to dig deeper for the harness in the footwell. I'd like to avoid removing the dash, but if I have to, I will replace the stock HU with MP3 play back and an external AUX in. With the price of those cables, that might even be the cheaper option.
Possibly stupid question - Will the PXDP / PXHGM4 cables work for anything with a 3.5mm input (Android phone)?

For $70, I'd rather replace the stock HU. Especially if I already need the dash removed. Is there an extra headache with swapping the HU (04Z06)? I have done several swaps before on my previous two vehicles (90s B-body) with no troubles.

you can easily swap head unit
but
you will also need a 40.00 harness to retain Bose speakers
so you will have more than just the headunit involved as well
I have many packages available for single din radios if you need pricing
I am looking for MP3 playback and AUX input at a minimum. Probably bluetooth as it is very difficult to talk, drive, and shift gears. And possibly Pandora.
