Default C4 Bose question

I got a '86 cheap so of course the stereo is half trash. I purchased a adapter so I can use my Blaupunkt DIN size stereo with the CD changer in the car. My question is, do I need to change to non-Bose speakers with a non-Bose stereo or is there a way to disable the speaker amps and just use the speakers for now?

You have to use aftermarket speakers with an aftermarket HU. You could of course waste your money and buy a couple “OEM” converters but that really isn’t recommended. Simply replace the speakers and you will be much happier.

Good luck. :)

I believe that my 86 came with the adapters to make the Bose units work with the Jensen CD changer, they sound good but unfortunately i dont know the prices.

They are about $90 each and you would need two of them for stereo separation. They are also not too reliable and you take a risk of frying your aftermarket Head Unit using them. It’s much easier to just throw aftermarket speaker in there and have better sound quality and piece of mind. :) :yesnod:

The speakers won't work with your system. They are 1/2 ohm speakers and may fry your Blowjunk without an adapter that changes the current. Scrap everything and start from scratch.

So I take it you don't like Blaupunkt? I was just asking a question. As for your stand up comedy career, don't quit your day job. :smash:

Yeah. Blau went out of the quality sterio business in the early 80s. They were a joke when I was an installer. Even BMW dropped them almost 20 years ago. Not much better than pyramid now. They have serious quality issues and are prone to not only breaking but falling apart in your hands. One of the few sterios that would be a downgrade from the bose.
