Default Sirius\XM question

I'm sure everyone is going GREAT another gripe about Sirius\XM but wait this is a technical question..

I have a friend who has Sirius in his 08 GM radio and when he is using Sirius he cannot get a lot of volume out of the radio. If he is using just the regular radio of CD he can blast the windows out of his car. Any Ideas as to why this is happening?? I told him of my many experts in the field and I was sure I would get him an answer.. Thanks in advance

XM is always lower in volume on radios versus CD's and the regular Radio.

My aftermarket unit has a level adjuster and I have XM on the max adjustment which is +8db.

It's due to the signal compression XM uses FWIW.

I am thinking about buying one of the 3.5mm aux input adapters that plays through the XM. I have noticed this volume issue with the XM and I'm wondering if it will carry over to the aux since this device plugs into the XM unit but it is not actually the XM that will be playing. I would appreciate any thoughts on this.

Thanks

Usually it's still quieter since it basically hacks the XM's signal (the radio thinks it's still XM) so you get the same compression.
