Does this price sound right?
I have a 2008 c6 non bose system. I went to two different places around town and both said it would be around 5000 for a system. Is this what you all spent? I know stuff is expensive, but 5000 sounds pretty high. I know the HU is expensive and the amp is too, but that still sounds pretty steep.
This price included new speakers (hurtz), 2 subs (jl's), jl amp and install
If you don't mind me asking how much did your system cost?

5K is a bit extreme. I installed professionally for over 12 years and I have to ask, define system? Most shops that haven't worked with vettes will give a high quote because they don't realize how simple vettes are to work on.

I thought that was a bit high!!! I was looking into more of a 3300 dollar price range. I'm not really looking to win sound competitions or anything.
"define system" something that is better than stock but not top tier. Doesn't have to be the best deck, subs, or speakers. Just something that would fit into the above price range. I don't need a fiberglass custom box with w7's. Just something that will sound good. I don't need nav, but would like to keep xm radio and on star.

In a cabin as small as C6 you only need one sub, and you can get a corner fiberglass box with a nice sub for $400 or less here.
Check out their "everything included" packages here and you can add a top of the line Nav HU for under $1500.
Throw in some nice front components for $300 or less, add rears for another $150 if you realy want them.
Even an expensive class D amp is under $500....
Total = <$2900 + install (DIY = free) for a NICE setup. On a budget you can get 80% of the quality for half that price.

Nope, don't go cheap you will end up replacing the stuff you hit on sale . Stay with focal and arc . Shop around and ask fit discount on final price this stuff has a huge mark up. Make sure the shop is certified to sell the stuff

Arc? as in Arc audio? I have heard of them and they seem to be getting good reviews on the forum, but I checked out there site...I honestly wasn't too impressed with the numbers on their amps. Even their top of the line signature series 4 channel amp seemed pretty mediocre. Either their website listed bum information or I would rank their amps a 3 out of 5. IMHO

To the OP: Unless you are a pure hardcore audiophile, you aren't going to tell the difference between Focal, Morel and Rainbow speakers over brands worth half the price like CDT, Diamond Audio and Polk. The same holds true for amplifiers. Particularly with brands like JL and Rockford Fosgate, you are paying for the name more than the R&D and actual manufacturing cost. Anything over $2-2500 and I'd be expecting to win competitions.

Maybe when I get the stuff you could help me out
Thanks everybody for your help. I'm going to call the vendor that posted on here and go with him. I thought that 5k was pretty expensive. My ears aren't great and I'm not trying to win any competitions!! I don't know that much about electronics, and I felt like the price was a bit high!!

And Arc has always been a pioneering company in minaturization of their platforms - which is really, really helpful in cars as small as the Vette.

Definitely not the best stuff you can buy, so I wouldn't agree with this statement at all. Arc is very definitely amongst the best you can buy and still stay in the 'reasonable' price range. And the differences in sound quality between "very good" (like Arc's stuff) and "best" is very small, while price differences are very, very big.

Sinfoni, Mosconi, and various Tru Tehnology amplifiers could be considered "better"... but then again physical dimensions play a major role in Vette installations.
