stereo wont turn on ??????
When the radio comes back on, did it 'reset' and lose time/presets/equalizer settings between dead moments? If yes, the problem is power or ground wire. Schematics are HERE, but I'd start by replacing RDO/VICS fuse in the footwell and a good check/cleaning of G104 under the battery/fuse box area. THIS POST has a pic of where to find G104. -OR- if you can't troubleshoot the power issue, you can leave the Alpine installed and just run new power/ground wires to the interface harness (be sure to install a fuse on power line).
If radio isn't losing power, meaning it's just not being told to turn on by the BCM, then the problem is probably a bad connection with the serial data line. I'd try installing a jumper wire between pin A1 of the interface adapter (lines up with the orange wire at pin A1 of the big radio connector) and the purple wire at pin 2 of the OBD2 connector at the base of the steering column. That should get the BCM talking to the interface again, which will let the radio come on when the BCM says it should be.
