hello..I hooked up my ipod to my aux and basically blew my rear speakers...does the C6 have an amp that controls these speakers? reason I ask is that the amp could be bad as opposed to the speaker itself...or is it the speakers?
The rear speakers in the C6 are powered by an amplifier that is in the passenger footwell. To access, pull down the flap of carpet at the very front of the passenger foot well, you will see the amp to the left of the fuse box.
What do you mean you basically blew the speakers? Please describe what happened. Did you let the smoke out? Do the speakers make any sound?
Bad News - The rear speakers are fed a limited frequency range mono signal. They are intended as "fill".
Before I replaced my system I turned the rear speakers off. To me it sounded better that way. How much "fill" do we really need in our massive passenger compartments.
When I replaced my system I only did fronts and subs and it sounds great.
The only subs are in the doors, so it's actually a good thing that you can't hear them if you fade to the rear. The crossover frequencies of the bose amp is unknown, but I'm thinking it's somewhere around 100hz on the rears.
