I just bought a 2012 base C6. I am not one of those guys who needs great sound but my rear speakers are super weak sounding. I assume that the have the rears set that way on purpose.
Therefore I wonder if putting in better rear speakers will help much without doing other mods?
The Bose system puts a lower volume mono signal to the rears, new speakers in only the rear won't do much at all.
+1 - however, I bought a really cheap pair of speakers on Amazon, they were 5 1/4" three ways and I got a pair of Metra speaker wire converters for GM for less than $30 shipped for the whole thing and they do sound better than the stockers. Not a substantial improvement but my wife and I agree that it sounds better than it did before. No modifications requires and can be put back to stock in 5 minutes. Just don't expect a dramatic improvement.
If you want a significant improvement, plan on spending a grand for amps, speakers and new wiring.
