Default C4 Speaker size???

In the FAQ it states for my 92 Coupe I can put in 5.25 easily up front in the kick panel and 6.5 with alteration, and in the rear 6X9 or 6.5 round. When my installer checked the computer it shows 4 inch in the front and 6.5 in rears.

Can I put these other sizes that are stated in the FAQ for sure??
I dont really want to put in 4 inch in the front. I want to get the best that I can when I do this entire audio rehaul.

Thanks in advance

Go by the FAQ. The speaker setup for the 90, which I used to have, is the same for all models after that.

I had 5.25 in the front and 6x9 in the rear of my 90. But you're wasting your time and money on putting 5.25 in the front. I couldn't tell they were even there.

You are going to want to use a 6.5 component speaker system; mount the midbass in the stock location, and the the tweeters in pods mounted to the "A" pillars.

Putting the tweeters up on the "A" pillars raises the sound stage, w/ everything down blocked by your legs, the sound becomes muddied and hard to hear @ highway speed.

While I agree, at the same time when I had my 89 with 91 interior I have the tweets and a 4" in the Frame rail, then a 6.5" in the door and it sounded great.

In my 90 Z I have the same setup and I really think outside of the leg blocking issue, the OEM speaker cover blocks more then you think. reason I say this is the 90 has a bit harder of a time pushing the tunes out then my 89, both were the SAME speakers and HU while the amps are different but comparable in power (89 had eD NINe.2x, 90 has Arc KS300.4 bridged)

I also have a Bazooka Sub box with powered amp from my Stingray I sold that I am going to use for my bass, so do you think I should just put in some nice new rears only and forget about installing any fronts?
Do you think if I get a head unit that is a 50 watt that I should get an amp for the speakers as well since I have the bass box or anything else that would make the sound even better?

IMHO,

all the music from the rear of the car will not sound right. Also I think you will find the built in amp of a Head unit will not work out well in top-off cruising conditions.

Honestly, if you did the speakers in the OEM frame rail locations with some decent power behind them you should be fine.. I would also do a set of 6.5" or 8" woofers int he stock rear locations..

I have a slight bit of overkill.. I am running 1" and 4" in the OEM frame spot, 6.5 in the door for mid-bass and then some 6.5" in the rear as my woofers.. I have though about swapping to the 8s but the car sounds good as it is.. but I have the 8s on the shelf.

I have 2 Arc Audio KS 300.4 powering everything One bridged for the front and one bridged for the rear.. according to ARC's specs they are at 350w per channel.

but like I said I am happy with the sound

I kinda agreee with jeff on the placement of the rear only speakers with a sub. I'm not sure your soundstage would well, sound right. With a sub like yours I would want my mids/highs coming from the front closer to the stage.

In my 90 I had 5.25 in the front and 6x9's in the rear with an above average Alpine HU. That's it. It kicked serious butt for what it was.

Now in my C5 I have JBL 638 6.5 in the front and JBL 938(6x9) in the rear. I have the rear in boxes because I have a FRC and the FRC comes with 5.25 in the rear.

I laso have the Alpine KTP 445 power amp hooked up to it all. This amp is a plug and play that delivers 45 RMS to each speaker and it installs by plugging it in to the HU on the rear and then plugging the other end into the wriring harness of the car's wiring system. I have it mounted under the pass. seat.

So if you have a powered sub already I would consider a system similar to this and I would go ahead and put some quality 5.25 in the front and go with some 6.5 components in the rear. You may have to fabricate a mounting plate on the rear with maybe some plexiglass or something simliar. But be sure to mount it so that it's secure and won't vibrate by using an absorber of some type. ie felt, fabric, rubber etc.

But you can also go with a simple 6.5 speaker as well and in many cases they will sound just as good to your average listener anyway, especially with your sub.

This is just how I would go about it.

My philosophy is always bigger and more expensive isn't always better, it just looks cooler

PS You could also try to put some 6.5 compnets in the fron but I'm not sure how they would mount up. I never explored that when I did mine. I just went with what I knew would fit without altering a bunch of stuff.
