I recently bought this car 2008 Z51 and do not want to invest a bunch of $$ right now, however I have a question. I don't have enough of the ting ting ting from the tweeter to my liking. Can I just replace the 3.5" in the doors with let's say a JL Audio C2-350X to get improved tweet or is it more complicated then that. I've been reading and have read about the amp in the subs but did not see anything about the tweeter/mid speakers.

Any standard 4ohm 2-way 3.5" aftermarket set will help your highs.

You can splice into OEM wires or buy adapters for about $10.

anybody have any opinions on which way to go as far as brand in your car?

Don't get the walmart cheapo's, but I wouldn't spend much over $50 on 3.5's

Dennis from doubledmods.com may have a good suggestion
