So to best answer...I am making these for my vert so I guess that tells you what I like LOL

As noted it is real hard to get the same effect with subs in a vert as it is in a coupe. So trunk to me is best option

Dennis
So the Kenwood will sound a ton better than the Pioneer? I thought they were about the same except for the Nav? Can it really sound $500 better than the Pioneer?

To me yes
If I had a Pioneer Kenwood and Alpine setting on the shelf and I had to go pull one to put in my own car it would be a Kenwood and if I happened to not have a Kenwood I would pull the Alpine...Leaving me with the Pioneer as last resort. This is MY two cents on these having installed a lot of them too. Not saying the Pioneer is a bad unit at all. Just saying Kenwood is my choice of radio

$500 "better" is a subjective argument.

For the additional $500, one could add an audio processor like a Bit One or MS-8 and it would be a stunning difference.

Drop the top and drive: I bet you have a hard time telling the difference. Road noise is going to play a lot into it, so unless you spend money and time on sound deadening... see where this is going?

The obvious question that should be asked is, how good is your hearing? Can you tell right where the music is beginning to sound distorted? Can you pick out when a song has been compressed? Will you be running CD's, Apple lossless, MP3's, or what?

If you had money to burn and price was no object, then it wouldn't matter... so I suspect that you have a budget in mind? If so, then you'll want to start thinking about what you need, then what you want, and what would be nice to have. From there, you can plan out your system accordingly.

Mark,

did you ever get that sub box back? Remember I'm the guy with the 06 vert and looking to make changes to my stock stereo and you said you were having a prototype made? Still looking. Thanks

Default Old thread.

Old thread,, but in a convertable im pretty sure if everyone was to hear a down firing sub set in the hatch area then that is what they would want . as long as they dont mind loosing the trunk space...
In the vert you then are able to feel it just as much as hearing it....
The problem lies tho in getting a low profile sub and encloser and correct box size .
