I would like to thank forum members for sharing their system so I could DIY (2nd revision) my system. My first system was similar to forum member bass_mechanic setup except for the head unit and subwoofers. I had 2 10's subs in the rear but was tired of reaching forward everytime trunk space was being used because I am short. So now the sub is behind and between the seats. This system (utilizes all 8 channels from the MS-8) is a 3-way front with rear surround and uses the center channel speaker.

Head unit: Kenwood DNX8120 with CMOS-200 backup camera
Sound processor: JBL MS8
Sub amp: Arc Audio KS2500.1 with remote bass control ****
Amp for front and midbass speakers: Arc Audio KS300.4
Amp for center and rear speakers: Arc Audio KS300.4
Center channel speaker: Hybrid Audio Legatia L3v2
Tweeters in A-pillar: Hybrid Audio Legatia L1v2
Mids: Hybrid Audio Legatia L3v2
Mid-bass: Hybrid Audio Legatia L8
Rear speakers: Hybrid Audio Legatia L4v2
Subwoofer: BA SPG-555 with passive radiator
Subwoofer box: about 1 cuft fiberglass, leather wrap with red stitching
Alternator: DC Power XP (225amp@idle max=300amp)

Hybrid Audio customer support is great. They provided the recommended crossover points for the speakers. The MS-8 does the auto tuning.

Question for you:

Can you make your voltage drop below 14.5v? I have a 270-XP alternator with about 900wRMS worth of stereo. Even with the AC running, car at idle, and stereo maxed out, I still only see voltage drop from 14.7 to 14.6 on extremely loud and hard bass hits

 

With AC on, the lowest I've seen it drop to 14.2v momentarily but then back up to 14.5v at idle with about 1300w of stereo cranked up

 

Have you tried installing LED turn signal bulbs?

They really don't like the higher voltages in my car. I ended up cutting the oem wires to install resistors to lower the voltage at the lights (details in sig).

 

I have the LED daytime running lights/turn signals. I don't have any problems other than the hyperflash which needed resistors.

 

hmmm.... Maybe mine were cheaper than I thought. I blew two sets, actually melted one bulb down to a plastic blob before I realized they were going out because of the higher voltage. I put an amp meter on them to figure out what resistors to get so they'd be at 12v, installed the resistors, and haven't had any issues since.
