Installed Infinity Kappa components in the sled and now find the highs way to sharp. S's and such actially hurt the ears! How do I tone the highs down?
Head unit is Pioneer dehp8400 with a eclipse 4 channel amp, kicker sub in the rear well hooked up to a Rockford amp.
Tuned mid and low to my likening but nothing on the head unit equalizer seems to help with the highs.
Thanks Steve

Infinity speakers are harsh on the ears no matter what else you do with settings.

Well darn. I guess I'll have to start over again.
I've got 4 kicker 6.5 still in the boxes that I was going to install in my DD. Guess I'll try them in the Vette

this

however, you can do a couple of things. one of them is use an inline equalizer to adjust the frequency going to the speakers on that rca cable before it gets to the amplifier

since you have what sounds like a single din deck you could use a half din eq like

http://www.ebay.com/itm/120907151982...84.m1438.l2649

and fix your situation to the best of your ability without changing out the speakers

that's actually a really clean and fairly high end eq. just new old stock and being sold cheap. was probably a $300 unit when it was current retail

plan b is trying the kickers. just by nature kicker is a more neutral speaker than those kappas. the KS and up line really don't sound half bad. JL c2 is another good affordable choice

Thanks for the info.
Thought I was being smart getting the Infinity as the specs seemed to fit my needs. I had no idea the highs would be this brutal. Other than that issue, system sounds awesome. I considered a separate EQ but have the deck installed with the humount bezel. Also assumed the separate EQ wouldn't give me much more adjustment than the built in EQ on the head unit.
Last reason is I'm going the Double D mod soon so don't want to go to far with the deck/console mods at this time.
(Yes Dennis you'll be getting more of my cash. Lol)
I'll swap the speakers this week and see how it sounds.
