It will most likely work. But it's a very entry level brand. You may be replacing it way before you plan to and will end up spending the same amount, or more, than if you went ahead and bought a better quality HU.

Just my opinion.

read these reviews and then decide.

Boss Audio is in the same league as ones I use to call “flea market” brand. Do the work? Sure but quality just isn’t there. For me, I would spend a little more money and get a nice Pioneer or Kenwood head unit. You will be much happier in the long run.

Lot of people rave about the service they get with Double D mods here. He has several good choices.

My personal favorites are Eclipse, Alpine, and Pioneer, in that order. I used to be a big Pioneer fan until they lowered their quality a few years back. I don't know if they have improved or not. The last Pioneer HU I had I bought in 98 and had to replace it this past year in my Dodge Ram. I thought it sounded nice, until I installed my Alpine. But I'm sure things changed from 98 to 2013. I had an eclipse back in the nineties that was recommended by a guy who did stereo competition, but they can be pricey, I loved that HU. I don't have any experience with Kenwood but a lot of folks also like them.

Typically what I do is look for a model that has been discontinued but still has a supply of new ones. The price is almost half to three quarters what they would be new and really the same stereo, they just slap a new number on them and maybe add a feature. You can find them on ebay. Then do a google search on amazon of the unit and you can read the reviews.

I don't know about other manufacturers but I do know Alpine uses the same amps in all their stereos, top of the line or bottom of the line, it's the features is all they change. Well at least I read that on an internet review so it must be true,.

It also depends on if you are going to install it or have it installed. If you have an installer who will install a unit you bought somewhere else, give Dennis a call at Double D and see what he has. If your installer won't install it from another source, you'll have to go with a unit bought locally.

I typically install all my own stuff in most cases so I buy elsewhere myself. Best buy did install a unit I already had in my C4, but I bought the speakers from them.

edit:

I just learned Eclipse is no longer in the US. So scratch that selection. There are still some around but I would scratch that off my list.

Funny you say flee market. I helped a guy try and start a new audio company a while back. He felt he could do it because his friend did it. His friend started at swap meets. Yep, Boss Audio. The stuff the guy had that I tried to help was all crap. He sorced from the same place Boss did. I installed a bunch of it in my truck for demo. It all died quickly. I still have one amp left and it buzzes. I'm to lazy to change it. Stick with the name brands.
