I am having an issue with the clock on my 2008 Nav clock. I set the time and it is set while I am driving. Once I turn the car off and when I get in to drive again, the time changes. It keeps switching to Eastern time and I'm in Central time. I set the time and enter Central time, but the Nav. doesn't maintain Central time, it switches to Eastern.

 

If it's changing by 1 hour I'd guess that you just need to change the daylight savings time button from whatever it is to the other (on/off).

 

When I change the daylight button it moves ahead by an additional hour. Radio won't stay on Central time.
I'll try and disconnect the battery and see if I can "reboot" it.
Little frustrating.

 

Are you selecting the appropriate time zone screen button? Sounds like the wrong time zone is selected and the GPS is resetting the time.

From the manual:

Setting the Time

To set the time, do the following:

1. Press the power/volume **** to turn the system on.

2. Press and hold the time display in the upper right
corner of any screen.

3. Select the 12H or 24H screen button to display the
time in standard or military time.

4. Press and hold the Hour and Min. (minute) arrow
buttons to increase or to decrease the time.

5. Select the appropriate time zone screen button.

6. Select the Daylight Saving Time screen button,
if necessary.

The radio will use the GPS satellite to set the time.

The vehicle needs to be in an open area to receive the
signal. See “Clock” under Navigation Audio System
on page 3-2 for more information.


Clock

Touch the clock symbol at the bottom of the audio/adjust
screen or touch and hold the time display in the upper
right corner of any menu to access the CLOCK ADJUST
menu. Touching the time display will also display the
date on the status bar at the top of the screen.

The following time options may be adjusted from
this menu:

Hour/Min.: Touch the up or down arrows to increase or
decrease the hour or minutes. Touch and hold either
arrow to advance quickly.

12H/24H: Touch 12H to display the time in standard
time, or 24H to display the time in military time.

GPS TIME: The current GPS time will be displayed to
the right of this button. Touch GPS TIME to set the
navigation system’s time to match current GPS time.

Daylight Saving Time: Touch this screen button
to increase the time setting by one hour, then touch
GPS TIME to save the new setting. If the screen button
is light blue, the daylight savings time feature is on.
If the screen button is dark blue, the daylight savings
time feature is off.

TIME ZONE: The selected time zone will appear to
the right of this screen button. Touch TIME ZONE
to toggle through the available time zones until the
desired time zone is highlighted. The time of the
selected zone will be displayed to the right of GPS
TIME. To set the system clock to the new setting,
touch GPS TIME.

If the system is not receiving GPS information, you can
still set the time manually as described above, but
GPS time and Daylight Saving Time features will
not be available.

Touch the back screen button to go back to the
previous menu.

 

I have followed the above procedure. Once I shut vehicle off it reverts back to Eastern time and I'm an hour ahead.

 

Set it to Mountain time

 

Guess I'm SOL.......

 

Did you try setting it to Mountain time?

 

Yes. And it stayed in Mountain time. Weird

 

Have you tried setting it to Mountain with DST on to move it up an hour? Then when the time changes you could go with Eastern and DST off

 

I have a "copy" of a newer Nav disk. I just switched back to OEM and disconnected and then re-connected battery. Find out if that helps in a couple minutes......
It only stayed on Mountain time through 1 cycle. Next time I got in the car it reverted back to Eastern time

 

You just need to move farther east

 

My 2009 C6 does the exact same thing. I have researched this pretty hard on the net and there is a known (rare) defect in the nav unit that exhibits these symptoms. If the car were under warranty the dealer would replace the nav unit. Good luck but I am afraid we are stuck.

 

Since updated NAV discs can update the unit the first time it is read, I wonder if it is a certain year disc that could be a problem?

 

It must be something along those lines.

 

Does your car have the memory option? If you use a different fob (fob 2) to enter the car after setting things up with fob 1 it will mess you up. If you have the memory option AAB try pushing the #1 or #2 button on the door and see if this is your issue. If you don't have the memory package I'm stumped too.

I have had the same problem with my 2008 Vette since 2010. The dealer replaces the body control module twice and it seemed to work until 2011. When I took it back they said they had to order another BCM and would call me back when it came in. No call backs. I called left messages - nothing. When I went back to Three Way Chevrolette and talked to the maintenance manager he told me they would not cover the repair now since my 3 year warranty had expired. Then he said while laughing, "It wasn't the BCM it was the SAT/NAV system and that's $1200! Thanks GM for FKING me!

 

Do you think that helped? You guessed it! After talking to 4 different people, being asked the same thing every time and then shuffled to someone else (which is a tactic to wear you out) they said nothing could be done....nothing at all!

 

I had a completely different issue with a Chevy I also own, not my Vette. They were having problems fixing my situation. I said to my advisor that I hope they fix it before my warranty runs out. He told me it doesn't matter because as long as the original claim was made before the expiration of the warranty they are obligated to keep repairing it until it's right, even after the warranty expires. Hope this info helps you.
