Adding bluetooth controls to C6 steering wheel
Hey all,
I have a 2013 1LT base with radio controls but no bluetooth. I'm adding an aftermarket head unit in a couple weeks and wouldn't mind having the bluetooth controls for that. I'm looking into ordering an OEM suede wheel and didn't know if I could just order it with bluetooth controls as well and plug it into existing wiring.
Anyone know if the wiring in the steering wheel is present for this connection? Had the airbag off right after I got the car to switch around the paddle shift wires but didn't think to look for bluetooth connections.
I did a little searching and came up with some info on the clockspring; not sure how many different versions there are...

The clockspring isn't an issue for you, only two wires used regardless of how many buttons there are, and yours already has the wiring. You will have to make sure you buy an SWI interface and new HU that can properly recognize the BT buttons.
Only possible issue is the plug that connects steering wheel buttons to column wires. I put a modified "older" C6 wheel (pic) into my '12 that came with the "new" suede wheel and the button plug wasn't the same, but I'd guess that if you buy a new GM suede wheel with BT buttons included it should match the plug in your '13. Even if it doesn't match, a quick trip to Radio Shack and you can buy a new QD plug set.
