Best Harness
2008 3LT stock Bose No Nav. Swapping BOSE HU for a Kenwood DNX890HD.
I purchased a GMOS04 and it sucks. I am having trouble adjusting Audio Line Levels, and it does not remember any settings after a battery disconnect. And, I will lose chimes once I replace the Bose Amp. That doesn't work for me.
What would be the best harness to hook up the Kenwood DNX890HD? I would like to retain On Star, and chimes. I will be replacing the BOSE amp down the road, and would like to retain these features afterwards. Ideally any adjustments would be retained after a battey disconnect.
I have a Maestro SW that I would like to use.
Thanks,

this is ONLY combo I would recommend using with the Maestro
I got the Maestro working (see my post made today), but I am having difficulty with the single POT design of the GMOS. The older GMOS had 2 POTS, one for Chime volume, and the other for Audio Line gain to the BOSE amp.
The newer (cheaper) version uses one POT to do both. I gather it is supposed to cycle from the Chime adjust to the Audio Level adjust. I can set the Chime volume, but it never cycles into the Audio Level adjust. I have followed the instructions many times, although it wants the "keys in the ignition" and the driver door opened to ring the Chimes. I put ACC on and open the door to ring the Chimes - I don't know how else to ring the bells. Maybe that is part of my problem??
As a result, max volume from the Kenwood is about about 50db - like 2 people having a friendly conversation with the Kenwood volume jacked up to max. If I lower the volume down to about 15, you can't hear anything.
If I press ATT (mute), ATT displays and it does mute.
No matter how much I twiddle with the GMOS POT, the volume remains the same.
If I can get this working, I will try removing the POT from the GMOS, and move it to the glove box (3 wires) so I don't have to rip the dash apart to tweak the POT every time the battery is re-connected, since the GMOS won't remember the settings after a battery disconnect. Not an impressive product to me.
Other interesting thing to note - as per your advice and MarkCZ, i did eliminate the GMOS relay by running a wire from "P CONT" directly to pin B3 on the harness plug. Works like a charm, but no chimes if the Kenwood is powered off since the GMOS has no way of triggering the Bose amp. I can live with that.
Any ideas re the Audio Line Adjust would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
M...

As per my phone call to Metra Support:
To adjust Audio Gain, set POT to mid point and TURN CAR on. The GMOS is looking at the serial data cable to see if the engine is running. AND, it will NOT remember POT settings after a battery disconnect.
I guess I will have to start the car
.If anyone has the older rev (2009) of the GMOS04 with dual POTS for sale, please let me know.
Thanks,
M...
