Default C5 component speaker question

Is it worth the extra money for component speakers in the door of a c5? Most installs I've seen on here put the tweeter next to the speaker in the door, only a few inches apart. Would I not get close to the same sound if I used coaxial speakers?

The higher the frequency, the more directional it is....so Tweeters down low like that hit legs more than they hit ears...that's why major installs move them up to the pillar. Some Coax may have tilting tweeters, that can be of some use...

I do agree if I was installing the tweeters on the A-pillars, then it would be worth the extra money for component speakers. But if I'm just going to install the tweeter next to speaker in the stock location like most installs I've seen on here are done, would it be worth the extra money for component or would the coaxial speaker perform (sound wise) just as good?

Was wondering if anyone had any real world experience with this?

Well, I plan on installing some Infinity Reference Coax's in the doors and behind in my C5Z in the next month or two....just those alone will be a huge improvement in sound at a reasonable price. Want to do a Dbl-Din but I'm hearing the wait time is huge to get the waterfall modded. So I'll probably just mod the stock HU for now to take a front 3.5mm jack so I can plug in digital media reliably. Ripping out the interior to lay down noise and heat insulation first...make a much better sound stage...

You can buy an interface box to give you a plug-n-play aux input that would play through the CD changer wires

'04 C5Z, not aware of any CD changer wires....I do have that do hooky box mentioned in the C5 Audio Faq, and when it works it works great, but then it stops working. I lift up the carpet, go through the routine of getting it recognized and it'll work for a week or so and then stop again. I'm over it...
