I have a 2011 GS with a non bose, single disc HU and I am installing new amp and speakers. Will “ADD-GM24” work or do I need another adapter? Is there any other adapters I need for this swap? Thanks!!
If you're keeping the original radio, the DIY modified AddGM24 is all you need to get the RCA line-level signals out for an amp.
While you're making that harness, attach a long wire to the one on the GM24 at pin B3. That will be your remote amp turn on lead. Be aware, the amp will turn on when you open a door, and stay on for several minutes after you get out, but music will start with ignition and stop when a door is opened. There are ways around this, but they cost a few bucks.
Everything else needed is normal amp/power/speaker stuff
Yes. Chimes come out of radio on front left channel. That's why amp is triggered on early and stays on longer. With an aftermarket setup they will be much louder also.
Other options... If you wired radio rear signals to your doors and use front signals to supply a sub, the LPF on sub amp will eliminate the chimes. You could then use a Pac CM1 module to have normal volume chimes. -OR- If you used a C2R-GM24 interface box... it will play chimes and also give your new amp a RAP controlled power signal (same as oem) so amp doesn't come on early and stay on longer.
I have a 4 channel amp and am wiring front channel to sub and rear channel to doors. Will "Pac CM1" wire up to stock harness? Is there a wiring option for keeping OnStar through dash speaker and still use the stock harness? Man I really appreciate your help!
