Made a panel to cover the amps today. Just deciding if we like this color material, or black, or possibly get the correct color. She likes this one so I tried it first.
Just waiting for the backup camera to arrive so I can finish the last of the wiring.
I drove around one day playing it pretty loud and the amps weren't warm. Yes, they were exposed to air flow, especially since the top was down! (That was before making the enclosure.)
I don't get to drive it much and crank it, but I will Wednesday night, that will be the test! If they do get too warm, then I will work on venting them. Not sure on how the material will breathe. If I have to vent the enclosure I can always put a pair of muffin fans in there with small grills. Hopefully I can leave it as-is.
You are correct Mark, after an hour drive with the stereo up a decent amount because of the top being down, they got warmer than I'd like.
Not sure how breathable the fabric is. I will remove the center piece of wood and leave just the fabric and possibly put a fan or two in there to blow up through the fabric.
How tall is the vertical piece at the rear? Google "12v cross flow fan", should be able to find some for under $20 each. If the back end is under 2" you can prob fit one on each side of the car with one blowing in and the other blowing out. Just one would work also, but you'd have to be sure to have an unrestricted opening on the opposite end of the fan to ensure good flow over the amps.
Thanks Mark, I will take a look. While they have not shutdown, they no longer run cool to the touch like they did before. The vertical piece is about 3 inches so I know I could put two fans in there, one pulling and one pushing just like you said, to circulate the air.
