Default 96 bose question

I am so confused now. I have a 96 convertible with the CD/Tape head unit and I am trying to find as much information about this system as I can in order to (A: repair the system to original condition OR, B rip it out and start over with a modern DVD/NAV double DIN system.

The factory system is on its last leg. All speakers are weak (little to no bass and distorts/rattles at medium volume). Also, the left rear speaker does not operate as far as I can tell.

Seems that every post I read contradicts the previous one.

NOTE: I do not have a FSM yet and have not been able to locate someone that is actually selling them. I know this manual would answer 99 percent of my questions.

I have concluded the 95-96 Bose system is unique and that the convertible is unique to itself again.

What I cannot find is this:
1. What capacitors in the 95-96 Bose AMPS need replacing? What are the values? Each thread I read never really specifies a year group so I cannot assume that it covers the 96 system.
2. Does the 96 vert have a subwoofer? If so, where is it located?
3. What are the factory speaker sizes?
4. Where is the radio control module located in the convertible?
5. How much depth is available behind the factory dash mounted radio (with and without cutting the radio bracket with a dremel)?
6. Where can I find a wire harness adapter for this car? Crutchfield doesn't show anything later than 1992 for the C4.
7. Where can I tap into the Vehicle Speed Sensor wire for the Navigation? (wire color?)

I apologize for all of the questions but I feel that I take a step backwards with every search I do.

Not sure, but they can be replaced.

No, only the four 4" speakers.

3. What are the factory speaker sizes?

4"

4. Where is the radio control module located in the convertible?

It should be in the cubbie behind the pass. seat.

5. How much depth is available behind the factory dash mounted radio (with and without cutting the radio bracket with a dremel)?

About four inches, but cutting the plastic behind it is no big deal. You can pick up another inch or so.

6. Where can I find a wire harness adapter for this car? Crutchfield doesn't show anything later than 1992 for the C4.

If you are replacing the radio w/ a new one, you just need a power, ground and power all the time wire.

7. Where can I tap into the Vehicle Speed Sensor wire for the Navigation? (wire color?)

You need to read the C4 FAQ at the top off the forum.
