C6 6 disc CD "read error"

C6 6 disc CD "read error"
I have a 2006 new to me vert with factory 6 disc bose CD. When inserting CD I get "read error" message & CD ejects. The CD works in other players. Is there a fix for this?

If I need to replace the CD radio unit can I get a later one that has the aux input & have it work OK? I really want to keep it looking stock but may go aftermarket if needed.
Update on CD player, it is working. We have changed CD's & all is OK.
