I don't want to spend more than 500 and this guy wants to charge me that for the speakers and install. I looked up on crutch field and they are only 300. I can put then in my self if I know they will fit. Just need an adapter plate if needed. They are going I. An 09 base c6 non bose speakers
i have a set instock for you with a price I can not share online...
however
if your planning on swapping these out for stock then your only able to change the 3.5 in the upper doors
So I'll need an amp to put those in or can I install them without an amp with the 3.5". The guy at the shop said I wouldn't need an amp to run these speakers
F it then. I'll just put in some 6.5 with the adapter plates. Then just save for a good head unit and sub. Can I use a regular 6.5 2 way or would a component be better
What year is your car and what radio option do you have?
All C6 have 2 speakers in the doors. Non-Bose have a 6.5" and a 3.5", both 'normal' speakers. With Bose the 3.5 is the same but the 6.5 is replaced by an actual sub (8" maybe). In early C6 the sub is self-amplified, so no drop-in replacement is available. In later C6 (with dash mounted tweets) the sub is powered from the Bose amp, so a drop-in replacement MAY be possible, but I haven't read about anyone actually doing it and making it work. The stock door subs won't shake loose any fillings, but they do a good job for what they are, trying to replace them for 'better bass' can't be done without an aftermarket amp.
IMO the 9 speaker setup with the dash tweets can't be helped much with drop-in replacements, but the 7 speaker setup can be improved by replacing the 3.5's with 2-way aftermarkets in the doors. Changing the rears helps a bit in both versions, but they'll still be in mono from the Bose amp.
The Focals are nice speakers, but installing them in C6 doors without an aftermarket amp for power isn't the best way to spend $300.
Components would always be recommended over coax. The 6.5 goes where the sub was and the tweet mounts where the 3.5 was, both on adapter plates.
The best bang-for-your-buck is always going to be 6.5" components in the doors and a sub in the trunk, powered by one bridged 4-channel amp (no rear speakers, or power them from HU/Bose). Change to a 5-channel amp and add good rear speakers for a few $ more.
I have an 09 base c6 non bose. The head unit is just a factory radio nothing fancy about it. Just cd fm xm thing. Ok I'll get adapter plates and get 6.5 components and mount them I the doors where need be. The. Do the sub in the truck and run everything off an amp. Thanks for the advice.
If you are going to do components and an amp for the doors.
Then get a hold of Dennis at Double D.
I have the ISS-200 8" Focals with the adapter plates and a nice Kenwood XR400.4 amp that Dennis hooked me up with and love it.
I will tell you it wasn't much out of your budget , and you will NOT regret it.
The Focal 8" components really reash the lows better than most 6.5" that I researched.
