Retrofitting 2006+ Antenna into 2005 C6
As the title says, I am looking into the possibility of retrofitting my '05 coupe with the antenna system from an '06+.
Background: Car came with factory nav which was replaced with a Pioneer AVIC-X920BT. Everything worked fine but recently had the opportunity to install a Kenwood DNX891HD with a backup camera. I had both units installed at the same shop where I have had work done in the past with no issues.
Since swapping the units, the AM/FM reception has been less than optimal; there is a lot of static and inability to lock onto stations the Pioneer had no issues with receiving.
I am going to take the car back and have it checked, but if the problem persists, what is needed to "upgrade" to a '06+ antenna setup.
Do you remember the make/model of the adapter used in your setup?
Sorry, had it professional done, looking at bill they used radio to gm ant w/mni 40-gm10 $15.00.
I think if you call place that installs radio, they would know, and more then likely have them in stock.
Hope this helps.
your installer did not install it correctly.
Your problem is...
they did not connect the blue antenna wire.
Most think that since you do not have a power antenna that they do not need to connect this. However for best AM FM reception and for HD radio reception this has to be connected...

Thanks Dennis... since I have tomorrow off, I will be contacting my installer to set up an appointment to have him pull the unit and check all the connections.
