Default Help me make a radar detector selection

So I have a v1 hardwired in my 14' stingray. Just ordered an S4 audi as my daily and I want to get a radar for it. Would be tempted to just order another v1 and be done with it but lately it has been freaking out from all of the cars with signals/sensors radar speed control and such...

including audis which seem to give out those signals and often cause false alarms.

I am debating the escort Passport but there are 4 diff ones so I am unsure even which one to get if I get that.

Opinions ? first hand experience please !

thanks-

Send your V1 in to be updated. Valentine recently updated his firmware with an effective filter for the k band garbage.

If you end up getting a Passport go with the 9500 GPS unit

9500ix is probably the best for in town. I loved mine, but sold it and bought the redline for highway use as I spend more time there. Imo the redline can't be beat for range and you can turn on or off the false protections. Band segmentation makes it extremely fast. I'm sure the v1 is great as well, just going off my own experience. I still run an older bel rx65 in my dd and it hasn't let me down yet. Not on the level of the 9500ix or redline but quite inexpensive for what you get.

Well I want a 2nd radar for the new car to prevents having to swap back and forth all the time anyway so it's a matter of do I order a 2nd v1 or try an escort or something

I had an 8500 x50 blue from 04 to about 10 and it as pretty good

Once you get it updated, it will work well in the audi. Without the update you will be pulling your hair out if you have blind spot monitoring of adaptive cruise control.

The new k band filtering on the V1 is much better than the Escort K band filtering. I have both, and my V1 is quiet while my Escort is alerting to a false.

I just sent it in for service this morning it was 143 including the shipping back plus 13 to send it in with insurance.

so total 156. Not bad to have an essentially new radar detector.

for now I will just switch them back and forth I guess once the car comes in and then eventually order a 2nd possibly...
