USB - Not Recognized at Startup

USB - Not Recognized at Startup

Have the audio system playing off the USB Thumb Drive. Working perfectly.
Turn off the car. Upon startup, the audio system starts playing from FM1.
On the SRCE list, the USB is listed and upon selection it starts playing.
The USB has about 8GB of songs.
Does the USB need to respond in a certain window at startup and if it doesn't does it default to FM1?
