Default Possible GM24 Problem.

I made a GM 24 harness to add an amp to my system. Followed the instructions on the forum. I had just the rear hooked to a sub amp and all was good. I changed amps to a four way so I could have door speakers and a sub. My four way amp has F/R inputs. When I connected it all together, I got major engine noise and whine. I put GLI's inline both and took out a lot but not enough. They make a Pac Audio AOEM-GM24. Could my harness that I made be the problem and could the better made one be the answer? Anyone have a problem with a self made GM 24?

The AOEM box may help, it's internal circuitry will act like a GLI and it has adjustment pots that you can use to limit the signal going to the amp.

Thanks Markcz for all your help with my problem. That's the only component that it sort of " rigged". I'll change that and if there's still a problem, it might just be the amp. I'm getting good at removing the console.

I'm going to put my old 2 way back in and see what happens. That amp did not have any noise. How do you ground RCA cables? I know the outer ring is negative but how do you wire a ground to it?

Easiest way to try it would be to just hook the end of a thin wire around the RCA when you plug it in.

If the outer contact is exposed you can solder or tape a wire to it. pic

Making a new adapter with a ground cable is another choice. pic

Some do stuff like this

Whatever is easy for you and makes it sound good
