C5- 12 disc changer static
When I play CD's on the head unit or listen to the radio there is no static in my system.
CD's 1-3 have virtually no static, then the higher the CD the more static that I get.
I took the changer out and cleaned the eye with alcohol. Didn't make a difference. Also unplugged and plugged the wires in several times.
Is there anything else I should try? or look at?
Eventually I plan on getting a double din with bluetooth, and be done with CD's. But in the mean time I would like to be able to have some decent quality audio.
I was also thinking about doing this, but the diagram doesn't make much sense to me, does anyone have a write up with pictures?

If you have an older ipod with the 30 pin dock connector that you can dedicate to the car I'd suggest something like this
If you want to try the DIY aux in wiring, it's easier to use a 4PDT switch than a relay. If you want to give up on the changer all together you don't need any switches or relays, just wire the new audio cable directly to the radio side of the existing cable.
If making the cable, the 'controls' and 'audio' portions of the changer signals go through two different cables in the C5 footwell. If you have a functioning changer you can tap into the audio signal with an external source to fool the radio into thinking the changer is the source of the audio, but the changer must be playing at the time for it to work. I would recommend that you only install 1 CD in the changer if using this input all the time.
In the diagram, the 'to changer' wire and the 'to radio' wire are the same oem wire that you need to find in the footwell, then cut it. The 'to MP3' wire is generally a standard headphone cable that you cut the end off of.
The relay/switch connects the center vertical row of contacts with either the left or right vertical rows, depending on the location of the switch/relay coil. That lets you switch between the changer audio and the new input from your phone or MP3 player.
