I am considering upgrading the bose speakers in my c6. Dennis hooked me up last year with a DNX692 and while it works, the audio quality leaves ALOT to be desired.

Here is what I am thinking:
5 channel AMP
6.5" components in the front
5.25" coaxial for rear fill
10" subwoofer in a corner cubbie box

I have spent an hour or so researching and have found lots of options on speaker brands, amps, etc. I am a big fan of buying at the point or diminishing returns and believe that I can get a setup I will be very happy with for around $1000 for components but if somebody could recommend a system for $600 that would be great too.

I have some time to assemble the equipment since I can't do any install for at least 10-12 weeks as my car is in storage until likely the middle / end of March.

My research is currently pointing me in the following direction:
Rockford Fosgate R600X5
Polk Audio DB6501 front components
Polk Audio DB521 for rear fill
corner sub box /w sub -> JL 10w3
associated adapters, cables, etc.

I believe that this will run me right around $1000. A few places I have considered saving money are:
1. drop the rear fill speakers and downgrade to a 4 channel amp with a bridged set for the Sub woofer

2. drop the 5 channel AMP and get a mono block for the sub and power to sets of coaxial (6.5 in the front and 5.25 in the rear) off of the head unit

3. get a less expensive sub woofer than the JL.

Thoughts? I am asking now because my wife would like to get me some of this as a gift, the value of the gift she has in mind wouldn't cover everything, but would cover the amp / speakers or sub and box, etc. Also, given the time that I have, I can start sale shopping and finding good deals between now and then to save as much money as possible.

thank you for the suggestion - I spoke to Dennis on Monday and got congressional approval later that evening (wife said I could) so I am going to place my order when I get back from vacation in approx. 10 days, I am very excited but sadly won't be able to start the install until the middle / end of march.

I worked with Dennis when I purchased my head unit and am excited to make this purchase from such a great vendor again.
