I used an installation write-up from Dennis at Double D with lots of images. Slightly different for my installation but a really good document, Dennis even helped identify the PAC RP3 even though I didn't buy from him. Well worth a search and download if you are thinking of anything similar.
A few problems at the start due to an unusual installation of a Parrot BT by a previous owner, (including connections with no insulation) Took a lot of solder and heat shrink to remove.
I used solder and heat shrink throughout, with a good heat gun for all spicing but that's just my preference. I realise solder is not flexible but quick connectors can be hit and miss.
I have included a few pictures. The PAC Interface image shows the right hand plug as the car connection, blue unit the PAC chimer to retain safety chimes and RAP power. Left hand plug fits the Pioneer. The plug I cut off was the Pioneer ISO connector.
My wiring is attached.
Wiring not too difficult (apart from my mistake!) The PAC RAC plugs are cut off for non Bose systems and the SW controls not used. Most colours match but care needed for the vehicle speed signal (VSS) to improve Sat Nav accuracy, reverse gear input for the reversing camera and parking brake for safety.
The Pioneer provides the option for a second camera which I am using for a front camera. Press and hold the map button and the pioneer can switch to front or rear cameras on the move.
The images show the microphone position and GPS unit above the air vent. The Pioneer included a glass DAB aerial, my view is DAB is patchy at best. I have it in my Lexus and when the signal is good it's great but not good for long journeys. I fitted the aerial below the air vents just to avoid "DAB aerial not connected" messages.
My only mistake was not to join the Blue/White Amp on wires. Pioneer said they were to provide power for an electric aerial which I don't have. That meant the unit worked but without sound. Markcz said connect them which I did and it's all working really well, especially Android Auto with my Samsung S5. After a journey you can park the car and then my phone navigates me back to the car, perfect for an "older person."
Cameras have been tested off car, the image is as good as the Lexus unit, I'm installing those this week so I will post an update.
I installed a Gultrag HUD at the same time and will post a write-up later this week.
