Default C5 double din deck brackets

So I got one of the double din consoles from vettenuts first run. I ordered everything for the install aside from the brackets. Vettenuts doesn't offer brackets yet, and well making my own is making me want to burn my car to the ground. Anyone else purchased this console and used another aftermarket bracket solution?

I realize this is a really old post. I am in the same situation you were in and about to pull my hair out. Did you ever find a solution or did you give up?

Either of those two work, but I would probably recommend going with the lowes brackets. I tried both and ultimately found the sliding rails to be easier to align.
The hardest part of this by far is simply getting the HU positioned precisely enough to let the double din slide right over it.

I've found doing your alignment with the AC controls removed, let's you hold the HU in place with your hand while you align it to mate with the console.
Have someone pull the console back while you're still holding the HU, and then mark the holes where you want to drill.

If you're going to be going with a newer mechless head unit, a lot of them are a lot smaller and lighter, making this a lot easier.
