Burning Brakes
I am planning a extensive trip this summer and was wondering how 8200 owners liked the GPS in this unit . Any opinions on the 8200's GPS ?

Me personally, I haven't had much time with the Nav part of it yet. Haven't made any road trips yet since the car is mostly sitting parked for the winter. I don't anticipate being dissapointed but I never expect a nav to fully satisfy either. Every nav i've ever used has always given me a WTF moment or two.

Did you guys pair the GMOS 04 with the Maestro SW for your install ? If so any tips on setting up the SW ?
I have all the bits here now so I am going to take a stab at this tonight. Cant wait to get rid of the factory NAV.

I used the Pac RP5-GM11 wiring harness which included a cable for steering wheel controls. I kept the default settings which changed my phone buttons on the left side of the steering wheel, but there were options to customize it if you wished to retain the original key functions. I might still go back and make changes but for now it remains as is. I'm not sure about the Maestro harness though or how that one compares to the Pac.

How was your audio level vs the stock deck ? I just got this in to test it tonight and its quite terrible. Low volume and tons of distortion when turned up to levels way below what the stock piece would kit clearly. Even with the in deck gain cranked its lousy.
Ill screw around with the GMOS POS tomorrow but if this is all she wrote I am going to need a different interface or am going back to the stock deck.

I changed only the head unit and kept the stock Bose speakers and amps. I must say, for me it has been a decent improvement in overall sound and volume. In fact I was so pleased that I sold my stock nav radio. Are you sure everything is hooked up right, I can't imagine that if everything is working right why you wouldn't have an improvement in sound.

Thanks for the link. I will have to screw with it some more tomorrow. I do have the Bose in the car as well.
I may have to rip the GMOS out. I thought the GMOS / Maestro SW was the ticket on a 11 - 13 . The distortion at such low volumes is really odd but a quick google search all points to the GMOS and that stupid gain setting so I will start there.

I spent quite a bit of time screwing with this and reading reviews and it seems the GMOS is just an all around bag of total crap so I am going to rip it out. Many people with teh same issues.
Just need to find a better alternative that works with the Maestro.

Just an update for anybody that finds this in the future.
I bypassed the GMOS 04 on the audio side and went straight into the GMOS harness and that solved the quiet distorted audio.
If anybody does this as a permanent fix u need to splice in RCA's and use the decks RCA (pre amp) pre outs to correct the over amplified sound and white noise / hiss associated with sending an amplified signal into the bose amplifier.

I might have to go back in and do that. I was a little nervous about using a standard USB cable because I thought I saw somewhere that not all USB cables support carplay and that's why I originally stuck with the one that came with the radio. I didn't realize it was so simple to use the stock USB port. Thanks.

I think the 8201 is a package deal. It's the 8200 plus a pioneer backup camera that comes with it. I'm not sure there is much difference between the 8200 and 8100 besides a few small improvements. Are you sure it's worth the jump.

I checked out the reviews on youtube and your right not much difference in the 8200 and 8201. The 8201 is the 2017 model, I will probably just put my 8100 in my truck.

I have the 7200 and am wondering if anyone has hooked up a second camera yet? Mine HU was already installed when I bought the car so I am not sure what is involved in hooking up camera two but would like it out front for parking.
Also, has anyone added the AVIC app to their smart phone and paid for traffic?

There is a yellow RCA jack that comes out of the head unit on the 7200. That is your video input and that's where you would plug your second camera. Then you just need to decide where to tap into for power for your camera.
