Default C6 Z06 Radio Install

I am about to install a Pionner AVH-X490BS in my 07 Z06 and the Metra VT-GMOS-04 Harness looks like it has some extras that wont be needed. I am reading that in order to have my steering wheel controls ill need to buy a steering wheel control adapter from Axxess, and it also mentions a single pole-double throw relay, such as the E-5000 from Metra. Do I need the relay if I am just changing the HU and adding a reverse camera? and what is the relay for exactly? And I am assuming if I dont get the SWC unit I just wont have steering wheel controls which is fine with me. Just trying to get an idea of what I do and dont need before I wire it all up and run into problems.

Seems as if I have answered my own question as I have found that PAC is better than Metra and will just get that whole unit and its a simple plug in play where as Metra requires some splicing.

Yes you got it. Pac audio RP5-GM11 wiring harness is your best choice. Comes with steering wheel controls also.

Well I got the PAC OS-2C and the steering wheel adapter that they told me was for my vehicle on quality mobile video. That's the one they said would work on this forum as well.

Ok. I think that's an older model harness. I always refer people to crutchfield.com when in doubt. You can put in your car and the head unit you want, and it will give a breakdown on install hardware you will need. I know the RP5-GM11 comes with steering wheel controls and also a FM GM antenna adapter included so I always steer everyone towards that one since I used it myself. I have heard of guys having issues with the GMOS harness if they have the Bose system, so I always advise against using that one.

Yea from what ive read the RP5 is just the two unit I bought combined basically, and as soon as I saw the harness for the GMOS unit I knew there had to be a better one. And I already had the antenna adapter just was up in the air if I needed the steering wheel controls but figured might as well keep them.

I got mine from Amazon for $95. I think my local BestBuy has them for $130. Either way good luck with the install.
