I have a Kenwwod DDX572BH head unit and I am adding a Kenwood 900-3 amp. My question is do I have to disconnect the speaker from the head unit when I connect the amp by using RCA plug or just disconnect the speaker wires at the speaker? I am running new wire from the amp to the speakers. I chosed Alpine 6.5 for the front doors and I had Kicker coaxial speaker already in the rear area. Any recommendation on should I change the rear speakers? Also I will be adding JL W1v3 sub.

Thanks

Maybe ask on Kenwood forum? This has nothing to do with corvettes, does it?

Assuming this is a 3 channel amp? If so, are you going to power the front and rear speakers with 2 channels wired in parallel and one channel to power the sub? If so and you want to just abandon the speaker wires that run from the head unit in place, you could just disconnect at the speaker locations and put something on the ends or you could disconnect at the head unit if you have the head unit out. You just wouldn't want exposed speaker leads still connected to your head unit. You aren't planning on the head unit powering any speakers anymore right?

You will then need to run rca cables from head unit to amp along with a turn on lead and wire the amp to the speakers accordingly. If you run front and rear speakers off two channels of the amp, is the amp stable into a 2 ohm load?

Yes it does, the question is related to my C6 with Delphi amp.

Thanks, it's a 4 channel, and I will be running the RCA from HU to AMP. I wanted to make sure I would not run into an issue later. So, I am going with disconnecting the wires at the speakers and making sure they ar not exposed. The Head Unit will be powering the AMP and from the AMP to the speakers with new wires. Again Thanks for the information.
