Default Help Replacing HU

96 stock Delco cassette system. I would like to ease into the world of Corvette stereos by a low cost conversion that I can do. Just learning about the complexities of Vette stereos. My initial plan is to:

Replace HU with Alpine CD HU
Upgrade stock speakers keeping the same sizes (for now)
Keep stock amp

I’ve heard the stock HU is just a cassette player with pres out and the controls for the tuner and amp. The tuner and amp is behind the passanger seat? Or, is just the amp back there?

Concerns and questions:
Can I simply tap into the stock cassette preamp line out going to the stock amp?
Can I connect the Alpine antenna and power for antenna at the dash?
So at the dash I need:
Power
Ground
Ignition
Pres out going to amp
Antenna
Power antenna

The entire preamp for the existing stock system must be in the HU right? So there must be one master preamp line going to the amp?

Thanks so much for your help

Or is the stock-to-aftermarket $80 adapter that 92TripleBlack mentioned in subs in a C4 post the way to go? Is the adapter made by Metra? Thanks.
