Anyone use pink noise to set your EQ's?

Anyone use pink noise to set your EQ's?
Recently I swapped out my speakers and added a sub and an amp. I had already installed a Pioneer 8200 a few months back and have been happy with it. But after my recent upgrade, I have to admit I am or was having some trouble getting the sound right.
After doing some searches online I found a few articles about using pink noise and an RTA scale to tune your EQ's? I never heard of this. I tried it this morning by downloading an RTA scale app to my phone and an app that plays pink noise. I have to say, this did seem to help big time. My current custom EQ settings are much improved and easily blow away any of the preset settings installed on my head unit. It does seem to clear up a lot of the harshness I was experiencing. My custom EQ chart looks like it's all over the place also and definitely not something I would of ever come up with on my own. Maybe I'm not familiar with enough audio stuff, but has anyone else heard of or used pink noise?

I know, I'm still in audio 101. Lots to learn still. I usually keep my car systems stock, but I have swapped out a few head units when I was younger and more recently have kept my audio upgrades to mostly upgrading speakers in an otherwise stock car. The Corvette has been the exception to the rule and has been giving me the most troubles. The stock system was so bad that it's been difficult for me with limited experience to do a decent upgrade I'd be happy with while keeping it on a budget. So far I've spent about $1900 while doing all the installation myself, and I still haven't gotten the results I was hoping for. Getting it tuned right has been more of a challenge than I hoped, but the RTA scale has been a big help. None of the preset EQ settings in my Pioneer came even close to getting it right since I added my sub, amp, and speakers upgrade.
