same, get the w3v3 it sounds better in the smaller boxes. w1 not only takes less power and does less SPL it needs a larger box. thinner cone more resonance without that larger enclosure. the w3 does fine in .8 to 1.0 cuft
One note about the corner enclosures. I had Vettenuts custom build mine with more airspace and they stand up a bit more than their standard version but they are in the .75 CF neighborhood. If you go with the smaller ones the bass won't be right, even with a W3. It will hit hard but sound too mid bassy and you won't get that really solid low end. I have 10" subs that are designed for .5 CF enclosures and in the .75 cf enclosure sound fantastic. Here is a pic when I had my old JL audio subs in them. I have since settled on a pair of hertz.
I got the box use so I hope that I do like the sound, if not I guess I have to go another route.
I would look for a sub that is rated for the very smallest of enclosures, like a 10 rated for .4 CF or so. That is your best chance for the best sound.

if a 10 does the cone will have to be really thick to dampen resonance and that means the 1w1m efficiency will be down
I think maybe he has ordered the box already with a ten inch cutout? If so, was just trying to help with what he has to work with. I agree, though, an 8 would be better in that size box.

hmm good point
i don't see why companies make boxes so small with cutouts for the wrong size woofer
an efficient 8 can easily have a nice output in the right box and often with less power than a 10 crammed in a too small box that requires more EQ to flatten out

The most horrendous sound on this planet is a sub crammed into a sealed box that is not big enough.
too small ported also makes an equally terrible sound. usually very peaky and in all the wrong places
I have built a number of boxes in my time and also had some built. What blows me away is a supposed "expert installer" will build a box or supply one that is too damn small for the woofer and it sounds like **** and they think it's awesome. I had it happen twice over the years and the guy loses all his credibility with me if he could somehow think that heavy mid bass resonance in the 120 hz neighborhood is considered good. Makes me want to yack. Especially considering a sealed box is the most forgiving of any enclosure just err on the side of larger.
