I think I have pretty thoroughly scoured the forums without finding an answer to this: I am starting and audio overhaul on my C5 convertible and I would like to install a sub (or two) without losing any of the rear cargo area. I found the following from JL Audio for the C6 but nothing similar for the C5. It looks like a similar solution would work for the C5. Is there a reason it would not? Does anyone know of any similar C5 enclosures. I built a fiberglass enclosure for my last vehicle so if a commercial product is not available does anyone have any plans to build something like this?

I haven't seen these. Don't know if they would work on a C5, but I can certainly see making something similar. Interesting thought... I have the stealth box that fits in the center compartment. Works well but I would like that space back. Was thinking of building a box that runs across the back of the trunk...

Keep us updated.
I have had a couple of custom installers look at the problem and building a box that runs behind the waterfall and maybe over the ledge behind the seats is doable. it will probably require 8" or smaller low profile subs if they are oriented facing the seats. It might be possible to do a rear firing 10" so that just the back of the box would be on the ledge behind the seats. The cost to have it built would be high so I would approach it as a diy project. That might be an advantage for stealth/security reasons. Double-D Mods also has the following:
In my last car (91 BMW 325i convertible) I built a ported fiberglass enclosure with an 8" Digital Designs sub that fit in place of the rear center seat cushion. I retained the sub when I sold the car and would like to use it in the Vette but the sub requires a ported enclosure which could be incorporated into the behind the seats idea. I'm not lacking for projects though and at least in the short term I might just go with a stealth box like yours.
Which stealth box and sub are you using? How is the sound? Do you have any issues with cargo on top of it. My golf clubs will live there along with the occasional suitcase and work related hardware...
In my C4 i put little subs in the rear where the original speakers where. Sounded good as the fronts provided enough sound.
Haven't played around with the 99 yet.
I had toyed with the idea for a while, came up with this...
All the shape weirdness comes from top clearance. It's designed around the Earthquake SWS-10 ultra shallow sub. It was still a challenge getting the appropriate air volume and basket clearance, and a shallow 8" sub might yet be a better choice overall.
I saw another guy here who mounted a sub and box into the back wall of the cargo area, extending into the rear fascia somehow...
