Default C5Z sub box

Adding a double din radio and looking into adding a sub box / 10 in sub and looking for recommendations on a box and sub? I don't need anything crazy, just looking to add some depth to the music.

Any inputs?

Thx,
Mike

Saw theirs, they're pretty pricey. Is that about the going rate for a box, sub setup?

for custom yes, pre fab mdf is much cheaper if you go center partition. $100 is the going rate there

it takes half a day to build one of those glass boxes like vette nuts does thus the price

I just built a corner box for the system I had installed yesterday. Considering it was the first time I ever made anything out of fiberglass I was pretty happy how it came out. I have less than $100 in materials in it. It did take me the better part of a week to finish it but I could make the next one much faster with the knowledge gained on the build. Overall a fun project. And believe me, if I can do this anyone can! LOL

that looks great. you did a nice job. i'm guessing you also realize why vettenuts charge what they do. that's not a quick and easy thing to create

O2 and RB thanks for the compliments! I absolutely understand why Vettenuts charge what they do. Now that I have built my own box I think their price is pretty reasonable. The shop that did my install estimated they would charge $500-$600+ for a one off custom built box. They charge $65/hr for labor and that can add up quickly! Custom work costs $$$.

The Amazon box looks totally reasonable, thanks!

Now let's talk sub and amp. I see a fair amount of folks using the JL Audio stuff.

Sub/amp depends on how much pound you want.

I personally use an Orion XTR 1500.1Dz underrated @ 1500x1 RMS @12.6v (my actual amp output @ 1755w per birth sheet)

Amazon Amazon

Mated to a 12" SSA XCON dual 2-ohm sub rated 1750w RMS. (newer version pictured below rated @ 2000w RMS)

this setup is pretty solid and not too pricy.
