The base is terrible. The base radio in my old work truck sounds better than this new setup. It is time to complete the install and try to make the stereo sound like it should. Volume is not the issue, sound quality is.
I installed an aftermarket head unit over a year ago. All components came from a forum vendor. I installed with RP5GM11 adapter. The Kenwood DDX9902 HU works fine. The aftermarket HU should easily plug into an aftermarket small amp. The rear speakers and small speakers in the doors were replaced. I added sound deadening to the doors and all of the floor during the install.
I am still using the factory BOSE amp and large door speakers and I believe that is the issue with the poor bass quality.
My questions are; What amp will fit in the place of the factory BOSE amp? I do not want an extra sub box in the back of the car to keep the car reasonably stock looking.
I can make speaker adapters to mount any aftermarket speaker in the doors, so what would be the best speaker choice to replace the BOSE 10" speakers? Should I "port" the doors to allow the new speakers to work best? Do I need to run all new wires to each speaker from the new aftermarket amp or will the OEM BOSE wires carry the power?
Any suggestions to complete this setup is welcomed.
I am still using the BOSE amp. Some of my questions were, for those that have made the system swap including changing the amp, what amp will fit in place of the factory BOSE amp? Did you run all new wires to each speaker? Which speakers did you install in [lace of the large BOSE speakers in the doors? Did the full amp upgrade help with the clarity and overall quality of the stereo in the C6?
Mine sounds great with my Pioneer AVIC-8200 NEX, much better than the stock system. I had to turn on the subwoofer feature from the menu on mine, not sure if Kenwood has the same thing, you might go through your owners manual and look.
I just replaced my head unit with a Kenwood DDX6903s, using the PAC RP4-GM11 which still uses the Bose amp and speakers. The sound and clarity is much much better than stock, so I was just making sure you hooked up the amp turn on wire so your door subs were working properly.

I need to correct myself, I went out and looked at mine and the sub feature is turned off, I guess I was thinking of the one in my Ford truck where it's turned on. Anyway I'd still look at your owners manual to see if you have all your EQ settings where they need to be, and check your amp turn on wire is connected like bartsky mentioned. I too am running the stock Bose amp and speakers and like I mentioned mine sounds much better than the stock head unit.

man I want to change my 08 nav unit out with a kenwood garmin so I can play Pandora from my phone.. I haven't been able to convince myself that I can do it myself. im scared to try to take apart my entire center console and not break anything or never have it fit right again. lol. especially if it will sound even better. I don't want new speakers or amps or anything.. but sounding better is nice. I don't think its to bad as it is stock. but its hard to hear with the sound of the motor and exhaust after the H/C anyways.

If all you want is to play Pandora from your phone that's simple to do with factory nav. You need a harness from Ray Kawal. It plugs into the XM receiver in the rear over the left wheel well. Very simple to do. Takes less than 30 minutes.
thanks. I dunno I gotta build the confidence to attempt it. I just want everything to snap together and fit back properly. Lol. I' a wuss. And also gotta pick a unit. Eyes on the Kenwood dns574s.

Then I suggest you take it to a professional stereo installer just to make sure it gets done right.

out of curiosity. Is there a market for oem navs? Car has 6900 miles. Wondering if I was to get this out if there is a market to sell with the newest mapping DVD. Just to help go towards new nav.

Yes there is, people are always looking for a replacement. If you're wanting to sell it you could always list it for sale in the classified section of this forum found here https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...le-wanted-115/ or on eBay. I myself kept mine incase I ever sell the car I can pull my $1500 Pioneer system out and put the stock navigation system back in.
