Default System Design, your thoughts advice

Well we are planning out the system for the C5 convertible... we have selected the head units and eq to match the goals of the system, so they are somewhat fixed (unless you know of something that would out perform it).

System #1

Sources (connection):
Alpine CDA-7990 CD player (Fiber Optic)
Alpine DHA-S680 6 Disc DVD Player (Fiber Optic)
Processor (connection):
Alpine PXA-H900 Fiber in, RCA out
Amplifiers:
Front/REAR- Phoenix Gold Titanium
Sub- MMATTS
Components/Center/Rears:
Dynaudio System 360 and 340
Subwoofer:
JL 13W7
Display:
TME-M790

System #2

Source:
Clarion VRX-925VD (fiber optic)
Clarion VCZ625 (Fiber Optic)
Processor (connection):
Alpine PXA-H900 Fiber in, RCA out
Amplifiers:
Front/REAR- Phoenix Gold Titanium
Sub- MMATTS
Components/Center/Rears:
Dynaudio System 360 and 340
Subwoofer:
JL 13W7

Spend all your money on front components. FORGET the rears.

Just get top of the line front speakers and arrange them nicely. Otherwise you're going to have path-length issues, imaging problems, etc etc etc.

You would only want rears in a "dolby 5.1" kind of situation. Althought I suppose with your convertible they might help you hear the music when the top is down, running a DSP will make it not sound too bad.

I'm running Focal 165W fronts at 115x2, and trust me, the single seperate set alone borders the threshold of pain and still has room to move.

Very nice sub, btw. Did you also check out hte IDMAX 12, and Adire Audio Brahma?

For amps be sure to check out ARC Audio, too. They are so clean it's almost scary, also made in the USA.

Are you sure you need an EQ?

The IDMAX 12D4 (12" dual 4-Ohm since you are running a single sub) wired parallel to the MMATS DHC 1400.2 would be phenomenal in that car. A nice set of Focal, Dynaudio, or Rainbows up front well placed and well powered will set the SQ stage for the whole system. The IDMAX is also an excellent SQ and SPL sub so you can go either way with it. The best of both worlds.

Looking good so far.

I like system #1, Probably one of the best heads there is. Especially running Digital with the H900 :yesnod: I was running a 13W7 for a month or so and removed it because of the weight. But it sure did hit well....

I know that the Alpine Processor is one of, if not the best. BUt if you get the Clarion HU, why not get the Clarion sound processor? I think it is the DVH 920???
