Just went to a local audio shop for some stereo upgrade ideas. Is it true that when replacing the head unit in the C5 you have to basically replace everything…HU, Amp, Speakers, etc.? If so why? I don’t want to do anything super-special. I just want to be able to play .mp3’s and my CD’s. TIA…
I am not trying to be a :troll but I started off with the same thoughts that you are having now. After a short while thinking about it and realizing that I was going to do it all myself, I just went for the gusto.
Replace it all and you will not be sorry, unless you needed the money for your kids braces or have the rainy day stash that you do not want to touch...
Just my opinion though... I was right where you are now...hehe... and a few thousand bucks later I am glad I did it. After all the griping and complaining I got from the wife she admits that it was a good choice and is happy to take her girl friends for a ride in it and throw in some Rammstein and turn it up to oh ... about... 25 or so on the ole Alpine CDA-7998.
