Pioneer X8700BS question
Anyone have any experience with the Pioneer X8700BS unit? Just installed the unit. Works fine and while the controls are not that intuitive,
it gives me Blu tooth and MP3 capability in a 2004 coupe. My question is that the unit doesn't hold memory or settings if the battery is disconnected. Most radios I've dealt with store the settings, radio channels, sound settings, etc. in non volatile ram so they aren't lost in a power failure. I find it hard to believe that a radio that isn't very old doesn't have this capability. I have sent the question to Pioneer, but, have not received a reply.
Am I missing something? Didn't see anything in the manual about permanent storing of the setup.
It sounds like you don’t have it wired correctly. Most head units have a ground wire, accessory wire (that comes on with the key), and a constant 12v power wire. The constant 12v power wire retains all your memory functions while the head unit is off and needs to be connected to a wire that doesn’t lose power when the car is turned off.

It maintains the settings when the car is turned off. The issue is that the settings are lost if the battery in the car is disconnected. Usually, modern radios keep the settings in a memory in the radio that doesn't need power. This is so you don't have to rest all your parameters if the battery dies or gets disconnected. After I had setup the radio, I had disconnected the battery to clean the udder on the pass side. When I hooked the battery back up, all the data I had set up was gone.

Ok, I see now what you are asking. My Pioneer 8200nex also loses settings when disconnected from battery. I don’t remember if it loses everything but I definitely remember I had to go back in and set it up again. It would be a lot easier if it retained memory when disconnected.

The only thing that I found that didn't get erased was my phone set up. It appears that info is written into memory somehow.
Never heard back from Pioneer.
