Sub box for c6 - advice
So after not bothering to upgrade my C6 bose system for years (got it new in late 04) - I'm finally going to upgrade some stuff. Want to get some current tech, which means a new head unit.. as long as I'm doing that, may as well get rid of the Bose crap.
So, I'm likely going to get one of the Kenwoods, pair it with a JL XD500/3. Front channels will push some 6.5 components in the doors (not sure on which yet) and the sub channel will push a stealthbox kind of sub.
So.. the options:
Cheapest:
The NVX B.O.O.S.T box. $300 including the 10" driver. Is the driver decent? Crap?
Next:
The one from C6 performance (vettenuts?)
http://www.c6performance.net/catalog...ucts_id=493181
$350 plus a driver.. made for the 10w3v3, which adds another $200ish.. so roughly $550
Most expensive:
JL Stealthbox.. $650

My general experience with all the "corner boxes" has been underwhelming. Those same drivers and amplifiers in other cars would pound my skull, but the C6 cabin for some reason seems to have a null right around the driver's seat that makes the bass less impressive, even though the cones are moving and the power is there. I ended up making my own enclosure that put the driver more centered in the hatch and used the glass to direct everything forward better than a corner box.
Another option to consider might be one of the partition boxes like this. This still gives you a prefab solution with a clean look that doesn't take up the whole hatch area.

thanks, Turbo..
I'm sure i could do better, but I'm definitely looking for compromise. Part of the reason for redoing the stereo is so I can use this car more for some road trips, so I need the space for cargo.. also want to make sure I can stow the targa when I don't have cargo.
I'm OK if it's not skull-pounding, just as long as it's reasonably tight and deep.
