Atoto a6 head unit
Hey guys, I currently have a Pioneer 80prs head unit with 5v preouts. It's a really nice unit but the remote sucks and I don't have a backup camera. Given I've had daily drivers with backup camera and steering wheel controls for the last 5 years I'm finding it more difficult to go without one.
I'm looking at getting a atoto a6 with gesture controls. It has a ton of android apps on it. I'm concerned about sacrificing a significant amount of sound quality. Any chance others can weigh in on their experience running an atoto, joying or other Android head units with regard tk sound quality? Thanks.

I made the switch to an Android based stereo a few years ago in my Passat.
I went from the standard low end stock unit to a pioneer Dvd unit. At that time I also added a pioneer amp for a set of xr1800 Kenwood components and a 12" sub/amp along with moderate vibration dampening throughout the vehicle.
Sounded pretty good considering the low cost of the front stage but after a couple months I couldn't take the stupid volume buttons or slow and unresponsive touch screen.
Found a VW Passat specific android unit from pumpkin and have loved it ever since.
Sound quality didn't deteriorate and once I made a couple adjustments with the built in eq it sounded just like it did with the pioneer. Not to mention a lightning fast interface compared to ANY non android or pc stereo regardless of price. Plus being able to use torque with the OBD2 features is cool
I just ordered an Android unit for my C6 and can't wait to get it hooked up

Ended up ordering a Sony, was looking for a unit with solid android auto support. The Sony has 3 camera inputs might put one on the front plate behind the vent cover mod. Heard good things about atoto but a common theme was an inconsistent reliability. Will post new setup when I put it in.
